1# Jellyfin update webpage
2
3A small Go web server for generating copyable Jellyfin movie and episode recaps. It serves one embedded `index.html` page, a database, or third-party Go dependencies.
4
5The page provides:
6
7- **Current week**: from the configured weekly boundary through now (Monday at 00:00 by default).
8- **Selected week**: `-1` means last week, `-2` means two weeks ago, and so on.
9- **Selected month**: `-1` means last month, `-2` means two months ago, and so on.
10- **Copy to clipboard**: copies the generated plain-text recap.
11
12Weekly output looks like:
13
14```text
152026-08-15 - 2026-08-22 jellyfin weekly update:
16
17Movies:
18• Dune (2021)
19
20Shows:
21• Example Show — Season 3, episodes 1-12
22```
23
24## Configuration
25
26Copy the example and edit it:
27
28```sh
29cp .env.example .env
30```
31
32## Run with Docker Compose
33
34```sh
35docker compose up -d --build
36docker compose logs -f
37```
38
39Then open:
40
41```text
42http://<home-server-ip>:8080
43```
44
45## Run as a local binary
46
47Go 1.23 or newer is required.
48
49```sh
50go test ./...
51go build -o jellyfin-news .
52set -a
53. ./.env
54set +a
55./jellyfin-news
56```
57
58The API key remains on the server and is never sent to the browser. The browser only receives formatted recap text. This app has no authentication, so keep port 8080 limited to your trusted home LAN and do not expose it directly to the internet.
